One of the most unique places I've eaten at. Gotta try it for yourself.
This place is a hidden gem! From the moment you pull down into the parking lot, you get a feel of a place with a lot of heart. The people were wonderfully friendly. We only stayed for a quick appetizer at the lounge attached to it on our way to another destination. But, if the cheesey garlic bread made in the thin crust for pizza is any indication of the rest of the menu, then this place should be very busy! I can only assume it is not because of its out of the ordinary location beneath a convenience store. Please take the time to seek this place out. You won't be disappointed!
My husband went there on our anniversary vacation. Very impressed. Atmosphere is unique and food amazing. Will eat there again before we leave!!
Definitely a hidden gem! The owners make you feel at home, everybody is a friend! The server Fabian is spot on! Tina and her husband(also the chef) greet you, and come back to check on you. I'm on my third visit in three weeks! The food is not what you would expect...not very Italian, it's actually more than you would expect! They have exceeded my expectations every time! If you are in the Lake Lure area this place is a must!
Signage for restaurant was easy to miss. We ended up going into the gas station where we were told it's in the basement behind the building. We sat ourselves, very eclectic decorations. One person took drink orders, and another took food. Unfortunately, we had to tell the drink lady that we were ready to order four times, as we watched everyone have their orders taken. The food came out quickly after that. We had the cheesy bread, chicken parmesan, hawaiian pizza, and cobbler. Meal was good, and they apologized for the mix up at the beginning. Fyi-There is no kids menu.
Great! Had a great time. Dinner was a delight as was Tina and Bruce. Tina takes care of her guests with ease and the food was as good as promised. A fun place!!!
Food was great and loved the look of the place
This place is AWESOME! Spectacular food, great atmosphere. Bruce the owner is a really great guy - very kind and welcoming. My wife had the grouper special that she enjoyed more than any fish she had eaten all year. And the Gorgonzola pork chop was phenomenal. This is a laid back restaurant/lounge full of interesting things to look at on the wall and ceilings. Kept me and our 4-year old son entertained for the whole meal - just looking at the walls.Go around behind/under the gas station. You won't be sorry!
Good variety of food Pizza to grouper. Will go again.
You can not ask for a more warm and friendly atmosphere. And the food is FANTASTIC. In addition, the service is top notch. If you pass up the opportunity to eat here, you've completely missed a wonderful experience.
Hidden gem. Food and service was great.
Tina the owner makes you feel like family vary warm staff excellent food always
My husband and I visit Lake Lure about once a year around our anniversary. We always have to dine here at least once! The owners are amazing and so sweet! Their food is amazing and the view is beautiful. I highly recommend!
Went during off season and was really treated like family! The berry cobbler dessert was the best cobbler I've ever had and we'll likely go back again just for that!
The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was extremely kind and gracious! The location is picturesque yet family friendly. If your looking for some delicious, authentic Italian food, this is the place to go!
Although at first you might be deceived (since the gas station) but down the steps really is a gorgeous restaurant. Friendly waiter, and guitar player. Very mellow, and the perfect place to bring a date late at night. Oh I almost forgot. The food is amazing. Very thin pizza that was like no other I've had. Definitely going again
If I could’ve given no stars, it would have happened!!We showed up at 7:15 on Wednesday hoping to enjoy their steamed mussel appetizer and a few beers!! We checked the website before going and it stated that they were closed on Monday and Tuesday and we were excited to try the restaurant!! So on Wednesday when the website says they’re open until 9 PM we showed up and were gazed upon by about 20 to 25 people! They were having the Christmas party! There were no signs stating closed for the evening for a Christmas party , also they were closed for two days!!! Why didn’t they have the party then?? Only the people that stared at us and made us feel uncomfortable are the ones to know the answer to that!
100% have to visit the place. Initial perception is that it is a gas station however when you go around back it is a little paradise. I have been fortunate enough to travel widely and this has to be one of the friendliest places and great food
Great food and atmosphere.
Very good. Don't be fooled by the location. We had a wonderful meal and the next night we had a very good pizza. The owners are hands on and lovely people. We would definitely go back. Best meal we had at the lake.
An amazing little restaurant tucked behind and under a gasoline station. At first, we thought our GPS had sent us to the wrong address, until we noticed the driveway and parking lot behind the gas station. To say the decor is eclectic is putting it mildly, but it certainly was entertaining. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. To tell the truth, we saw no other staff, but a woman who I believed to be the owner wandered in while we were eating and struck up a conversation. I had seen her as we walked in, lying in a hammock in a flower garden outside. We all had the grouper special with asparagus, shrimp, and vodka sauce on a bed of hashbrown potatoes. Sounds strange, but delicious! This treasure was definitely worth finding.
Ordered for takeout, so I can't speak for the service. However, when we went in to pick up our pizza the owner along with the staff was very welcoming. The bar area and outside patio show a lot of character. It definitely has your hometown bar/restaurant vibe inside. The patio is decorated nicely and has a taste of italy intertwined. We got the fairway pizza and It was delicious. I can't speak for anything else on the menu but the pizza is authentic Italian all the way. Thin crust, homemade sauce, fresh toppings everything was excellent.
Pizza, beer and great casual atmosphere. The proprietors and wait staff are really friendly. This is the kind of place where everyone might know your name.
Staff is amazing and super friendly. They aim high for excellent customer service. The food is fanominal and so are the drinks! Very cozy place to go alone or in large groups.
There are no signs. It is under the convenience store at the entrance. Pizza was good. Meatballs had much too much black pepper.
This is so unexpected! Came in late, saw a few pictures and decided to try... You come to the gas station and in the dark it's not obvious that it's under the gas station, and it's the same as the bedrock lounge... I actually asked the gas station attendant if we could bring kids in... Turns out it's first off, plenty kid friendly, even at night, and it's as kitschy cool as they come! Food was well prepared, and we just had a good time. Totally recommend!
LOVED IT!!! Atmosphere & food were great. Staff super nice. Can't wait to return.
Some food was great (garlic cheese bread and salmon) and some ok. Hard to find and prepare yourself for an eclectic interior.
Don’t let the “under the gas station” thing dissuade you. Came on vacation and ate at all the local recommendations ... this was easily the best meal we had in the area for the whole week. Everyone loved it. I had the grouper and it was perfectly cooked and the sauce went so well with the potatoes and fish. Service was so friendly and homey. Definitely worth trying.
Terrible service. No help once we arrived. The host/server/bartender kept passing us by. Called previous for a reservation was rude and acted like he had no clue at all. Once we got there no one payed attention to us. Asked to sit down and he said ya whatever. Would not go back if paid to. This is a gas station wanting to be a resturant.... Hired musician talked to us more then the staff.
Luna Del Sol is back for the 2019 season. Stopped by for wings, drinks and desert tonight and was not disappointed. Wings were juicy and the Eclaire cake was finger liking good. Don't miss this place!
Watched some college ball with a friend. Met the owners Bruce and Tina. Nice folks. Service was good, best calamari can get in NC. Pizza was good thin crust. Astmosphere was very pleasant. Would recommend to stop by and visit!
So fun and funky! Great food and amazing staff!
Didn't go eat but saw pictures. The decorations inside are unique. Owners are very nice.
We were so excited after waiting all day and, skipping, lunch to order pizza from here. We spent $55 including $19 on a stromboli we were told were huge, my,husband got,it home and,it was the size of two hot pockets. The pizza was soggy and soaked through the crust. Dissapointed is an,understatement.
Quirky place with inside and outside eating. Good food selection. Family friendly but also has a bar.
Food was vvery good
We came in quite late but they were still super friendly and the food was perfect as well. The restaurant had such an amazing atmosphere thanks to the wonderful owners and the fantastic interior. We wish we could eat here every night!
Quite a nice suprise to find only 35 minutes from home. Enjoyed the "Fairway" pizza with a nice combo of meats and veggies. It was crowded due to a large family reunion dinner but our waitress did her best. The owner stopped by our table to say hello and check on us. We would go back again someday.
AMAZING FOOD!! Bruce’s passion oozes through in his food, I have never eaten something bad, a hidden gem. I cannot wait for them to open back up again!
Wonderful food!Great service.
Great owners and food!
Had a really great time here tonight. Food is fantastic, staff is super friendly, and the 4 berry cobbler is to die for.
My husband had the baby back ribs with bourbon sauce and baked beans. He said it was incredible. I had an awesome New York pizza. We will keep going back. Waitress Michelle was super nice.
Very good food, great staff. Pleasant atmosphere. kitschy Bedrock bar and a classy dining room designed around a lovely collection of crystal. We visit a couple of times during our month long vacation every year. Note the correct location is on Whitney and it is below the Apple Valley Convenience store. Definitely worth finding.
Hidden gem.....truly enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
Had a fantastic experience in this spot with my kid. The food arrives rapidly and the service is just awesome. Prices are affordable.
The food was very good nice portions
Delicious food 😋 and great service!
So disappointed.I wanted shrimp pasta, so the waitress offered to have them make the shrimp and sausage pasta, without the sausage.Lots of pasta and the shrimp that I did find was cut into pieces. I was up charged an extra 3.50 for "extra shrimp" that I never did find..28 bucks for some pasta and one beer is just ridiculous. But during tourist season what more would you expect from a restaurant in a gas station basement. 😟
